Message from Our President

Greetings to all.

On behalf of the members of the Executive Committee, I would like to thank all of you for your show of confidence, by re-electing the Committee to serve another term. The Executive looks forward to an even more exciting and challenging term in serving the Chapter, as it continues to support our alma mater.

As we enter into our 16 th year as a Chapter, it is my hope that we can do even more for the school and our local community. For sometime now, various portions of the school building have been in disrepair, and over the years the chapters have wrestled with the decision as to whether they should provide funding in this area. In September 2004, a detailed proposal was received from Lance Hinds, President of BHSOSA (see “Funds Needed” in this newsletter), outlining plans for the refurbishment of the Physics and Chemistry Laboratory and the extension of the Home Economics room. I am pleased to announce that at our November meeting a decision was made to support these projects. With this in mind, we now have to increase our fundraising activities and/or improve the ones already in place.

I would like to urge members to attend meetings, in this way we can hear and share ideas enabling us to attain the set goals. As part of our plans for 2005, there will be presentations on health and finances at some of our meetings, the book club will resume and a family fun day is planned for July.

Reunion will be held in Washington, DC, August 17-21, 2005. Please make your reservations early and encourage others to do so.

On behalf of the Executive Committee I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your families a happy, healthy and prosperous 2005.

Yours truly,

Lorraine Phillipe
